Neopets frequently suffers from albeit catastrophic glitches, the latest in the series (after the Dupe Day, and Password Fault) would be this years (06-05-07) Bank Glitch.

The premise of the glitch was that you could basically double the amount of Neopoints that you had by simply depositing via the “Upgrade Bank Account” portion of your bank at the Neopian National. During the time period of this glitch thousands of people made millions (if not billions) of Neopoints. The bank was quickly taken offline, but not before major damage could be done. Some of the most notable activities were people “Buying-Out” Featherally’s entire shop with the non-legitimate Neopoints, and others clearing out entire groups of malls.

The aftermath of the activity left many in confusion about what items were safe to buy, who to buy from, and if money they were being paid would be earmarked as “fraudulent” and their account being frozen. It would be safe to say that the majority of the people who clearly abused the glitch (generating hundreds of millions of Neopoints) were undoubtedly caught. There were however likely many that were not as daring and got away with a large sum of Neopoints for little to no work.

Events like this have a major impact on the entire economy, prices go either lower or higher and there is a mass sense of chaos that quickly ensues. It’s best to remember that if you spot a glitch to quickly report it to Neopets, and to quit abusing it. It would be a shame for you to lose everything because you subcomed to the desire for a get-rich-quick scheme that was nearly impossible to get away with. In the future just say ‘No!’ to such occurrences, don’t let yourself be tempted and risk losing it all in minutes!
